The Zwerdling Law Firm recently settled a serious dog attack case in which our client suffered a complex degloving injury to her right cheek, and puncture wounds to her forearm, thigh and neck. These injuries required surgical intervention. After the legal and medical issues were addressed by us, including consultation with a qualified expert, the insurance company for the dog owner offered to settle for $300,000, which represented policy limits (the total amount available in the defendant homeowner’s liability policy). An investigation of the defendant’s personal assets revealed that he was unable to respond to damages in excess of that amount. The case therefore settled for less than its total jury verdict value. Our client was very pleased with the result.
